Swim Lessons

Logan Fitness offers a range of group swim lesson classes in the aquatic center. These classes include:

Parent and Tot Swim (Therapy pool) – For ages 6 months – 4 years old

Class Size: 5-20 child & adult pairs
Parental Supervision: One parent/guardian (age 18+) is required in the water with the child during the class

This class introduces babies and toddlers to swimming in a safe, supportive, and playful setting. Designed for ages 6 months to 4 years, it promotes comfort in the water while building foundational skills for lifelong water safety and competence. Parents/guardians will actively participate alongside their child, learning how to properly support them in the water, practice gentle submersion, encourage back floating, and develop early independence. As children grow in confidence, the class incorporates age-appropriate skills such as body positioning, buoyancy, floating, kicking, and pulling techniques. Instruction is guided by experienced instructors and emphasizes fun, safety, and the child’s natural progression in the water.

Beginner Swim Lessons (Level 1)(Therapy pool) – Must be at least 4 years of age

Class Size: 2–6 students
Parental Supervision: Children under the age of 12 must have a parent or guardian (18+) present on the pool deck during each lesson.

Beginner Level 1 swim lessons are designed for children who are new to swim lessons or not yet comfortable in the water. This course focuses on developing essential water safety and foundational swimming skills through guided instruction, practice, and repetition. As participants demonstrate proficiency, new skills are gradually introduced to build confidence and promote steady progress. Skills covered include submerging the face, blowing bubbles, floating, and jumping into the pool assisted. The goal of this course is to establish the groundwork for future swimming success.

Please note: Due to limited class sizes and high demand, all group swim lesson registrations are final. No refunds will be issued for any reason.

  • Submerge the face and blow bubbles
  • Float independently on front and back for 10 seconds
  • Jump into the water and return to the wall or ladder unassisted
  • Swim 10 feet with minimal to no assistance

Level 2 swim lessons are designed for children who are ready to build on foundational water skills and increase their independence in the pool. This course emphasizes water safety, skill development, and swimming technique through structured instruction, guided practice, and repetition. Participants will work on breath control, floating in deeper water, and swimming unassisted. Core skills introduced at this level include freestyle (front crawl), backstroke, and safely jumping into the deep end and swimming back to the wall without assistance. The primary goal of this course is to help students become more confident and competent swimmers, preparing them for more advanced swim techniques.

Participants will focus on improving stroke mechanics, breath control, and swimming efficiency while gradually increasing swim distances (up to 50–100 yards). Skills introduced include stroke refinement, dive technique, and endurance-building exercises. The primary goal of Level 3 is to enhance stroke proficiency and stamina, preparing swimmers for more advanced training or swim team participation.

Through structured instruction, targeted drills, and individualized feedback, participants will enhance their streamline kicking, breathing efficiency, flip turns, and overall stroke mechanics. Emphasis is also placed on building speed, endurance, and swim strategy. The primary goal of this course is to refine competitive swimming technique while developing the strength, efficiency, and confidence needed for performance at higher levels.

Adult Beginner Swimming (Lap pool) – Must be at least 12 years of age

Class Size: 2-8 students

Whether you’ve lived with a fear of the water or just never had an opportunity to learn, you are far from alone! About half of Americans don’t have the skills that could save their lives in the water. Focus will be on comfort and safety in and around the water with the goal of treading and/or floating independently. Skills such as breath control and basic swimming movements can be introduced as the student is ready. Each student will be encouraged to go at their own pace and set their own goals as they build confidence in the water.
