FAQ

All students have three accounts that are automatically created soon after they are officially admitted to the college.

MyJALC is what students use to view their schedules, grades, transcripts, bursar account balance and financial aid information, as well as register/add/drop classes.

Log into MyJALC by entering your Student ID Number, and clicking “Continue.”

Volmail is your student email account. This is how your instructors will communicate with you via email, so make sure that you check it regularly. Log into Volmail here.

Desire2Learn is used for online courses as well as for supplemental material and interaction for many traditional classes. You will need to be able to access Desire2Learn, and depending on the class you’re taking, you may need to check it on a regular basis. Log into Desire2Learn (D2L) here.

JALCtext is the one account that you must set up yourself, as it is not automatically created. JALCtext is a service that sends a text to your phone in case of an emergency, or campus closure. You can also elect to receive texts pertaining to other college news or events of your choosing. All students should set up a JALCtext account. Even if you don’t have a cell phone, JALCtext can send you emails instead. To sign up for JALCtext click here.

If your accounts stop working after you have changed your name, please contact the Admissions office in Room C200, (618) 985-2828 Ext. 8298, admissions@jalc.edu.

If you’re not able to log in with the Student ID & Password:

  1. Make sure that you are typing both items correctly.
  2. See if you are able to log into one or more services or none at all. When you are first accepted at the College you will only be able to log into MyJALC. Once you register for a class, you’ll be able to log into all tech services.
  3. Change your password.
  4. Contact the Help Desk at (618) 985-2828 ext 8388 or helpdesk@jalc.edu.

Change Your Password

If you are a current JALC student, connect to the “LoganLive! Student Wireless” network. Make sure “Connect automatically” is checked. When prompted enter your student ID and password.

If you are a faculty or staff member, connect to the “FacultyStaffConnect” wireless network. Make sure “Connect automatically” is checked. If prompted enter your JALC username and password.

If you are neither an employee nor a student of the college, you can still connect to the “JALCGuest” wireless network. Your JALCGuest username and password will be good for 24 hours. JALCGuest is a low speed, unencrypted network, so you should avoid transmitting any sensitive information.

You can store your files in your OneDrive. OneDrive can also be used to backup and share files. Students get a terabyte (1024GB) of storage space.

As a John A Logan student you can install the full-featured Microsoft Office Suite on up to five computers (Windows or Mac) for FREE!

Just Click Here, and click on the “Install Office” button in the upper right hand corner. The download page automatically detects whether you’re on a PC or a Mac.

You can also install Microsoft Office Apps on your phone or tablet for free, from your devices app store.

John A Logan students can print for free, from any computer, tablet, or smart phone. Upload files 24/7 to the PrintNet website. Pick up print jobs in Room C115, Monday-Friday. Click the link below to get started.

Students can also print for free to the library copier, from any library computer.

The College’s open access computer lab is located in C231A.

C231A is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. This lab may be closed from time to time for scheduled testing and training.

Additional computers are available for use in the College’s library.
