The GECC credential is awarded to students who complete a minimum of 37 credit hours of general education coursework that satisfies the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) General Education Core Curriculum (GECC) requirements at an eligible college or university.
The GECC is designed to support transfer to participating four-year colleges and universities. All coursework required for the credential is included in the Associate in Arts degree.
The GECC credential is not a degree or certificate and will not be awarded to students who have already earned an Associate in Arts transfer associate degree. Once all requirements are met and verified by the College, the GECC credential will be automatically added to the student’s transcript. Students do not need to apply for the credential.
