Mary Logan High School – Summer Math Instructor

Description:

Mary Logan High School (MLHS) is an optional education high school program serving students ages 16–21 within the John A. Logan College district. MLHS provides full-time and supplementary academic services designed to support student achievement, retention, and high school diploma completion.
We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Summer Mathematics Instructor to teach multi-level high school math in a combined classroom setting. The instructor will work with students in grades 9–12, delivering differentiated instruction tailored to various skill levels and academic needs.

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Part-time (minimum 3 hours per day, Monday–Thursday during the day)
  • Location: Mary Logan High School, at John A. Logan College
  • Student Population: Non-traditional high school students (ages 14–21)

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, content specific area, or related field.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior teaching experience and demonstrated ability in developing and implementing course curricula.
  • Instructional Skills: Proficient in effective classroom management strategies and sound pedagogical techniques.
  • Student Engagement: Seeking candidates who are motivated to support non-traditional high school students, with a focus on student retention and high school diploma completion.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver mathematics instruction across multiple high school grade levels, from foundational skills through Algebra, Geometry, and beyond
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying student abilities and learning goals
  • Use engaging, student-centered teaching strategies to support credit recovery and skill development
  • Monitor student progress and provide academic support as needed
  • Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and academic growth

Essential Functions & Position Duties

Non-essential functions of the position
Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.

Salary: $21 per contact hour
