The Office of Grants and Program Initiatives manages the College’s US Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program. As part of the Apprenticeship program, students receive on-the-job learning through paid positions in their field of study.
There are 3 parts to a registered Apprenticeship:
The Employer is responsible for hiring the apprentice, providing on-the-job learning, and paying the apprentice a progressively-increasing wage.
The Apprentice is responsible for applying, attending work outside of scheduled instruction, and attending class.
The Sponsor—JALC—is responsible for assisting with identifying apprentices, providing related instruction, and performing administrative duties of the apprenticeship program.
The College currently offers the following 13 apprenticeships; others can be added as needed.
Auto Body Collision Repairer
Certified Nursing Assistant
Child Care Development Specialist
CNC Machine Builder
Construction Craft Laborer
HVAC Installer and Service
Industrial Maintenance Repairer
Once the student has completed on-the-job learning and education requirments, they will be issued a formal certificate from the US Department of Labor, certifying program completion.
