JALC is committed to ensuring students with disabilities have equitable access to dual credit courses, provided those students meet the criteria for entry into a dual credit course.
Dual credit students are officially enrolled as college students; therefore, they are covered under postsecondary disability laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, rather than the IDEA.
A student’s IEP or 504 may be used as supporting documentation; however, specific accommodations are determined by the JALC Disability Support Services (DSS) office and may differ from those provided by the high school. Accommodations are not automatic and must be requested through JALC DSS office. Once approved, only college-approved accommodations will be implemented in the dual credit course.
