Associate in Applied Science

Associate in Applied Science, Director’s Credential, Gateway Level 2, Gateway Level 3, Infant/Toddler, Family Childcare

Students who enroll in the Early Childhood Education program at John A. Logan College will be trained to provide care and education for children in public childcare settings to include maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment, providing experiences to promote physical, intellectual, social/emotional, and language/literacy development. Students will also use positive guidance/discipline strategies; establish positive and productive relationships with families; and operate a well-run program for children that adhere to legal requirements and a professional code of ethics.

Students should apply for the Early Childhood Access Consortium for Equity (ECACE) Scholarship. This program was created to address Illinois’ shortage of qualified professionals in the early childhood field. This scholarship seeks to help those individuals who currently work or have worked in the early childhood field and would like to advance their credentials or degrees in early childhood education. This program can be completed mostly online with the exception of on-site practicum hours.

The Early Childhood Education Program is a minimum of 63 credit hours. Please use our Tuition and Fees page to calculate your approximate cost.
