We are excited to announce that applications are NOW OPEN for the First Annual Logan Leadership Academy at John A. Logan College!

This inaugural program is seeking both faculty and staff applicants who are interested in growing their leadership capacity and making a meaningful impact on student success, institutional effectiveness, and community engagement.  This program is seeking both faculty and staff applicants who are interested in growing their leadership capacity and making a meaningful impact on student success, institutional effectiveness, and community engagement.

This professional learning experience is designed to support any faculty or staff member seeking opportunities to build leadership skills. This also includes those who have not yet had the chance to step into formal leader­ship roles. The roles could consist of advancing student success, improving institutional effectiveness, and promoting community engagement at John A. Logan College.

Participants selected for the Logan Leadership Academy (LLA) will engage in a structured growth and learning experience focused on leadership skills, strategic thinking, collaboration, and institutional knowledge.

The program provides an excellent opportunity for emerging and current leaders to grow, connect with colleagues across campus, and contribute meaningfully to the college’s future.

Program Overview

The Logan Leadership Academy is a professional learning experience designed for emerging and current leaders, including those who may not yet hold formal leadership roles but are ready to lead.

  • Cohort Size: 10 total participants
    • Ideal cohort: 5 faculty and 5 staff
  • Facilitation: Sessions will be led by experienced faculty and staff leaders from across the college
  • Schedule:
    • Meet once a month for 2 hours
    • Academic Year (10 months, August through May)
    • Dates and Times (TBD)

What to Expect

Participants selected for the Academy will engage in a structured learning experience focused on:

  • Leadership skill development
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making
  • Collaboration across campus
  • Institutional knowledge and culture

This first-year cohort will play a special role in helping shape the future of the Logan Leadership Academy while building lasting professional connections across the college.

Selection Criteria for the Logan Leadership Academy

Applicants to the Logan Leadership Academy are evaluated on the content and clarity of their responses to the five application questions.

The selection committee considers the following:

  1. Motivation for Applying
    The committee looks for a clear explanation of why you are interested in the Academy and how it aligns with your professional values or goals.
  2. Anticipated Learning and Growth
    The committee consider what you hope to gain from participating and how the Academy’s leadership focus connects to your personal and professional development.
  3. Impact on Your Current Role
    The committee assess how participation in the Academy will strengthen your work at the College, including how you plan to apply new leadership skills within your position or department.
  4. Professional & Community Engagement
    The committee also reviews your professional activities, committee involvement, and community engagement either through your written response or an uploaded résumé/CV. These experiences demonstrate your commitment to leadership, collaboration, and service beyond your primary job responsibilities.
  5. Additional Context
    This optional section allows you to share any relevant experiences, goals, or perspectives that help the committee better understand your leadership potential.
