I chose JALC to pursue my educational career in elementary education because of the small class sizes, campus activities, and affordability!
I chose JALC because I wanted to have a smoother transition into the college life. Being able to go to a community college lets you explore your career options at a cheaper price. Community college saved a ton of stress, money, and risk!
I chose JALC because of the amazing people and the strong sense of community. The smaller class sizes let me build close relationships with my classmates and professors. It’s also affordable and close to home, which helps me stay connected with family and friends.
John A. Logan College has launched a new program with its in-district high schools and private schools to provide last-dollar scholarships to participating students.
🎓 Big news for local students + families!
John A. Logan College has launched the Promise Scholarship, a last-dollar program helping eligible in-district students earn up to TWO years of tuition-free college after financial aid is applied.
We’re visiting area high schools to share how this creates a clear, affordable path to college and career success right here in Southern Illinois. Students must complete the following requirements to be eligible:
✔ Enroll by Dec. 15 of freshman year
✔ Maintain 2.0 GPA + 90% attendance
✔ Complete 4 years of math
✔ Earn 9 dual credit hours
✔ Complete FAFSA + JALC Foundation app
✔ Take ORI 100 when starting at JALC
This program is about more than financial support. It’s about helping level the playing field so more students can access college, chase their goals, and build brighter futures.

CTE Month Student Spotlight: Renee Evrard
After stepping away from college, Marion native Renee Evrard returned to John A. Logan College determined to finish what she started and pursue her dream of becoming a police officer.
Now a Criminal Justice student preparing to graduate in May 2026, Renee credits hands-on CTE training, tutoring support, and encouragement from faculty and staff for helping her gain confidence and stay on track. Her journey is rooted in learning to care for herself so she can one day help others through hard times.

Adult Cardiac Sonography at John A. Logan College is a 24-month accredited program that prepares students to produce and interpret detailed heart ultrasounds used to diagnose and monitor heart conditions. With hands-on training on real equipment and clinical experiences, our students are preparing for a meaningful allied health career helping patients keep their hearts strong.
