John A. Logan College will present Grumpy Old Men: The Musical March 27–29, bringing a heartfelt and hilarious celebration of friendship, community, and the enduring surprises of life to the stage.
Adapted from the Warner Bros. motion picture that starred Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon, the musical captures the sharp wit and neighborly rivalries that made the original film a classic. Beneath the comedy, however, lies a touching story about love, loss, and the importance of human connection — themes that resonate across generations.
Set in a small Midwestern town, the story follows two feuding neighbors whose long-standing rivalry is reignited by the arrival of a charming new neighbor. What unfolds is a series of comedic misadventures, heartfelt revelations, and unexpected friendships that remind audiences it is never too late for a fresh start.
According to Director Chris Thornton, the production has been a joy to bring to life.
“Our talented students, designers, and production team, through their dedication, creativity, and collaborative spirit, truly embody the heart of this show,” Thornton said. “We’re proud to present a musical that balances big laughs with genuine emotion and hope it leaves audiences smiling long after the final curtain.”
Performances will take place on Friday, March 27, at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, March 28, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m. With an additional free matinee performance at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27.
Tickets are $15 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at the Logan General Store on the John A. Logan College campus or by calling 618-985-2828, ext. 8127.
