John A. Logan College will recognize graduates of its Highway Construction Careers Training Program (HCCTP) during a ceremony on Thursday, November 14, at 10 a.m. in Room F118 on the College’s main campus.
HCCTP is a free, 12-week program designed to prepare individuals for careers in the highway construction trades. Funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation, the program offers hands-on training, classroom instruction, and certifications that equip students with the skills necessary to enter apprenticeship programs or pursue construction-related employment.
Graduates complete rigorous training that includes courses in safety, math, blueprint reading, heavy equipment operation, and more. Participants also receive essential items, such as tools and personal protective equipment (PPE), along with a monthly stipend to support their success during training.
“HCCTP changes lives,” said Crystal Bouhl, Associate Director of Workforce & Community Education. “Our graduates leave ready to step into high-demand, well-paying construction careers. We’re proud to celebrate their achievements and the opportunities that await them.”
Family members, friends, and community partners are invited to attend the ceremony to honor the graduates and learn more about the program’s impact on workforce development in Southern Illinois.
Applications for the next HCCTP class, scheduled to begin in Spring 2026, are now available online. Interested individuals can visit jalc.edu/hcctp for more information.
