A southern Illinois tradition is set to return to John A. Logan College this fall, as the Southern Illinois Celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Days marks its 38th year on Sept. 27-28. John A. Logan College is pleased to announce that Oasis Outdoors is returning as the title sponsor.
“We are excited to host this annual celebration that has become one of the premier weekend events in southern Illinois,” said JALC President Dr. Kirk Overstreet. “We are grateful to Oasis Outdoors and the whole team at Black Diamond for their continued support of this event.”
The two-day event will feature more than 100 vendors offering outdoor-themed merchandise, along with a full slate of family-friendly activities and attractions. Popular returning favorites include Dock Dogs, the Kids Fishing Hole sponsored by Bishop McDonald’s, the BB gun range, and Camo the Clown.
New to this year’s event, John A. Logan College’s mascot, Charger, will make an appearance, adding to the festive atmosphere on campus. A stand-up comedy show is scheduled for Saturday evening in O’Neil Auditorium. Headlined by national touring comedian Jeff Batts, the show will feature other touring comedians, including Funny Bone Comic Tara Garrett. The celebration has long been recognized as one of the premier outdoor festivals in the region, drawing thousands of visitors each year to experience demonstrations, exhibits, and activities that highlight the area’s strong outdoor traditions.
Organizers encourage families and outdoor enthusiasts of all ages to attend. Parking is $5 per car, and admission is free.
