John A. Logan College Hosting Auditions for Fall Stage Play The Foreigner

Published on August 27, 2025

John A. Logan College will hold open auditions for its Fall 2025 stage production of The Foreigner, a two-act comedy by Larry Shue.

Auditions are scheduled to take place on September 10 and 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the O’Neil Auditorium on the JALC campus. The production will be directed by Ryan Patrick, with performances planned for November 14,15, and 16.

Set in a fishing lodge in rural Georgia, The Foreigner follows Charlie, a shy Englishman who pretends to be unable to speak English as he accompanies his friend Froggy. The ruse quickly leads to a series of humorous misunderstandings and unexpected encounters with the lodge’s other eccentric guests. While filled with comedy, the play also explores deeper themes of identity, acceptance, and personal transformation.

“We are excited to bring this classic comedy to the stage at John A. Logan College,” said Music Instructor Chris Thornton. “The play not only entertains with its clever humor and colorful characters but also challenges audiences to reflect on how we perceive and accept others.” All community members, students, faculty, and staff are welcome to audition. No prior acting experience is required. For more information about auditions or the production, contact Chris Thornton at 618-958-2828, ext. 8033 or christhornton@jalc.edu.
