Several John A. Logan College offices will temporarily relocate on Friday, Aug. 15, to accommodate the use of a large crane used for the installation of a new elevator. The College will remain open, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of the day.

The Blue Parking Lot, located near the Bell Tower, West Entrance, Scheduling, Brewer Gymnasium and Athletic Offices, Student Services, Bursar, Human Resources, Business Office, JALC Foundation, Poshard Foundation, and the Administration Building, Mail Room/Copy Center and General Store, as well as Art and Music Classes in the B Wing and O’Neil Auditorium, will be affected.

Student Services offices, including Admissions and Records, Advisement, Dual Credit and Partnerships, Testing Services, will be relocated to Rooms E130 and E131. The Bursar’s Office will accept payments in Room E120 (Campus Police).  Financial aid will be in E 135 and the Student Success Center in E 137. The Athletic Offices will be relocated to Logan Fitness.

The Business Office will move to Rooms F118 and F119 in the Conference Center. Human Resources and the John A. Logan College Foundation will relocate to Rooms F110, F111, and F112 in the Conference Center.

The Information Booth and College Switchboard will be located in the E-Wing Lobby, next to the Coffee Shop.

Offices in the Administration Building, including Marketing and Public Relations, Legislative Affairs, the President’s Office, Finance and Facilities, and Office of the Provost, will operate from the Mees Centre in the Harrison Bruce Historical Village for the day.

Affected classrooms have been reassigned, and students whose classes were interrupted by the elevator installation should receive notification from their instructor regarding alternative learning spaces.

The Mail Room, Copy Center, General Store, and Poshard Foundation will be closed, and staff from those offices will relocate to other offices.

“We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our students, employees, and visitors as we complete this important project,” said President Dr. Kirk Overstreet. “We apologize for any inconvenience. This work represents a significant step forward in improving accessibility for our campus community for years to come.”

Officials strongly encourage anyone planning to visit the campus on Friday, August 15, to call 618-985-2828 before arrival. Not all offices will have phone access. An email directory for all employees and departments is available at jalc.edu/directory.

A staging area for media members interested in obtaining photos or video of the construction will be located on the East Lawn of Logan Fitness.
