JALC to Host Veteran’s Activities on November 10

Published on November 9, 2021

With John A. Logan College being closed on November 11 in observance of Veteran’s Day, the College’s Veterans Resource Office has a day of activities planned for November 10 to honor veterans. Currently, enrolled veterans can pick up a free drink from Cold Blooded Coffee at the E Wing entrance between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM. Veterans can also pick up a gift card and JALC gift during that time.

The Veteran’s Resource Office has also placed displays around campus that include a Missing Man Table in the Cafeteria and Honor Flight Thank You Cards at the E Wing Entrance. Thank you cards are given to the Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois for mail calls. Veterans are taken on a one-day trip to Washington, DC, to visit war memorials. During the flight home, veterans participate in one of the best traditions in the military, mail call. Veterans are handed stacks of cards and letters from strangers, friends, and family. Thank you cards should be returned by Friday, November 12, 2021, to the Veteran’s Resource Office or at the box provided at the E wing entrance.

“I am so proud of what our Resource Office does not just on Veteran’s Day, but on every day for our student veterans,” said President Dr. Kirk Overstreet. “Today is only a small token of our gratitude for those that have answered the call.”
