We are pleased to announce the ten year reaccreditation of John A. Logan College. Following a multi–year self study and Higher Learning Commission visit in February 2007, the College received its final report outlining notable strengths and challenges for the future. This report affirms that John A. Logan College is fulfilling its mission of service to students and the college district community.
Following a September, 2008 focused visit from the Higher Learning Commission, the College was also approved to offer an online Associate of Arts degree. This degree provides enhanced access to education and more flexibility in meeting student’s learning needs.
It’s obvious that the persistence, perseverance, and professionalism of everyone involved make the college a jewel in the higher education fabric of southern Illinois.
I want to express my gratitude to the over 130 employees who have participated in the planning, information gathering, data analysis, document preparation and visitation review for these reports. The process has allowed us to reflect on how well we fulfill our mission goals and how we will challenge ourselves to address opportunities for improvement.
In 2009, the College will respond to the Higher Learning Commission’s request for updates on governance and distance learning opportunities. Our College vision, ‘Learning for Life’, reaffirms our commitment to continuous improvement of our college programs and management processes.
