Men’s Basketball First Team to Go Undefeated in GRAC Since 1975

CENTRALIA — John A. Logan completed an undefeated conference season by beating Kaskaskia, 91-84, to finish the regular season 25-5 overall and 18-0 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. Ranked 11th nationally, the Vols became the first team since 1975 to go undefeated in the conference.

The Vols also claimed the NJCAA District regular season title and earned the top seed in the tournament which determines what teams has an automatic bid to the national tournament in Hutchinson, KS. The District tourney will be at Rend Lake College with the Volunteers opening at 1 p.m. Monday against the winner of a game between Shawnee and Kaskaskia on Saturday.

At Kaskaskia, the Vols were led by All-American Jay Scrubb who had 18 points. He ends the regular season with over 1,000 points scored in his two seasons. Going into tournament play he has scored 1,173 points in 55 games, an average of 21 points per game.
