Logan Men’s Basketball Goes 2-1 in Jamboree
October 23, 2017
CARBONDALE – The John A. Logan Volunteers finished with a 2-1 record in the Midwest Jamboree hosted by Logan at the SIU Recreation Center.
Playing in a field of 12 outstanding junior college teams, the Vols recorded a 57-37 win over Southwest Tennessee, a 57-45 loss to nationally ranked Moberly Area College out of Missouri and an 83-67 win over Mineral Area of Missouri in the finale.
“I’m very pleased to be 2-1.” Smithpeters said. “We really played good basketball for all but about 6-minutes of the Moberly game. We had trouble scoring against their pressure defense and we got killed on the boards. That put us in a 20-point hole and we just couldn’t play ourselves out. I have to give our guys credit though because they continued to battle against one of the top teams in the nation.”
Smithpeters, who is the director of the Midwest Jamboree, said the event ran very smoothly with everyone excited about the quality of the teams. He said there were even more Division I coaches in attendance than last year.
