July 12, 2017
CARTERVILLE – Ronnie Carson, 6-1, guard from Lexington, Ky., will join the basketball team at John A. Logan after a transfer from Three Rivers Community College in Missouri.
Carson started 25 of 32 games last season at Three Rivers, averaging 6.5 points and 2.6 assists per game. He shot 39% from three and 76% from the line. In high school, Carson averaged 28 points per game, scoring 54 points in one game and 55 in another.
“We are really happy to have Carson join our program,” said Logan Coach Kyle Smithpeters. “He comes from one of the top programs in the country and has the game experience we will need this season. Carson is a hard-nosed, tough floor general who knows how to distribute the ball. He can control a game.”
“John A. Logan has a very good program with all the components including outstanding coaches,” Carson said. “I’m really looking forward to playing at Logan. I feel like I can get the ball to open players and I can score.”
`Smithpeters said the signing of Carson really solidifies the Vols guard position.
Carson joins highly touted David Sloan, 6-1, Clivonte Patterson, 6-4, Jonah Jackson, 6-4 and 6-0 Justen Shadowens of Marion as members of this year’s recruiting class.
