Vols Move into First Place with Win at Kaskaskia

CENTRALIA – John A. Logan held Kaskaskia to only 21 second half points on the way to an 81-57 victory in a battle for first place in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.
The win moved the Volunteers into first place in the league with a 10-3 record and an overall record of 18-5. Kaskaskia fell to 8-3 in the league and 16-7 overall. It was the seventh straight win for the Vols.
Logan was led in scoring by Jalen Perry with 19 points while Chad Culbreath had 16, Jerome Davis scored 15, and Allen Billinger added 10. Ryan Obermeier led KC with 14 points, all in the first half.
“This was a big win for us,” said Logan coach Kyle Smithpeters. “I was proud of how our guys’ defensive effort in the second half to hold a good team like Kaskaskia to only 21 points.”
