CARTERVILLE – The John A. Logan College baseball team is ranked 16th in the nation in the first poll of the spring season released by the National Junior College Athletic Association Wednesday.
Logan is the only Illinois school ranked nationally and sports an overall record of 31-6. Selected No. 1 this week is Santa Fe, Fla. Only two teams, Santa Fe (35-5) and Connors State, Oklahoma (32-4) have fewer losses than the Volunteers.
“It’s nice to be recognized for our body of work up to this point in the season,” said JALC head coach Jerry Halstead.
Logan leads the Great Rivers Athletic Conference with a 17-1 mark and has won 11 straight games and will open a three-game series with Rend Lake beginning Thursday at 3 p.m. in Ina.
