MARION - Freshman Hunter York delivered his second consecutive 74 Monday to earn medalist honors and lead the John A. Logan College men's golf team to a first-place finish at the Logan Spring Invite,at Kokopelli Golf Course.

The Vols overcame a one-stroke deficit to beat Lewis,and Clark College by two strokes,, 616 to 618.

Rend Lake finished third at 652 while Lincoln College ended up fourth at  686.

Logan's second-best score went to freshman Nick Woolard with a 153, placing him third overall.

Sophomore,Austin Grote bounced back from a rough first round Sunday to post a 74 Monday to finish at 159.

Sophomores Kody Rendleman and Neal Northcott each checked in at 163.

Competing as an individual, freshman Landon Vaughan placed fifth overall with a two-day total of 154.

"It was windy out there today, but we need to be much more consistent if we want to continue to improve as a ream," said Vols head coach Tom Ferris. "We have two big meets coming up in Nashville and,Decatur before the Districts in Alabama later this spring and we need to get better."
