CARTERVILLE – John A. Logan College sophomore righthander Matthias Dietz has been named “Pitcher of the Week” in Division I baseball by the National Junior College Athletic Association for his accomplishments last weekend.
The 6-foot-6, 230-pounder out of Orland Park tossed eight shutout innings Saturday against Illinois Central College. He allowed only three hits, struck out 13, and walked none in improving his spring record to 2-1.
“This is a tremendous honor for an outstanding outing. It is well deserved,” said Logan head coach Jerry Halstead. “Matthias is our first-ever National Player of the Week.”
