CARTERVILLE – The John A. Logan College softball team added a lefthanded pitcher to its fall roster this week with the announced signing of Taylor Foy, graduate of Oswego High School in Plainfield.

Vols coach Angie Jilek said Foy’s pitches “have a lot of movement” and added that she “mixes her pitches well.”

“Like all pitchers, there is room for improvement, but I believe Taylor will benefit from working with Bruce (longtime Logan coach and husband, Bruce Jilek). She has a good attitude and plays on a very competitive summer league team.”

Jilek added that Foy was recruited by and had committed to a play at a four-year school before changing her mind as she felt Logan was a “better fit” for her right now.

“We believe Taylor will continue to improve as a pitcher if she puts her mind and efforts into it,” Jilek added.

Foy said she enjoyed her campus visit in Carterville and is excited about the idea of playing college ball as early as this fall.

“I am looking forward to meeting all the girls. I’m sure they will all be like family to me before long,” she said.

Foy, who plans to major in criminal justice, said she throws a variety of pitches, including a two- and four-seam fastball; curve; change up; drop; riser; and screwball.

“I really owe a great deal to my development as a player to Coaches Dwayne and Patrice Owens and my parents (Tracy and Rose) for their support over the years.”
