ALEXANDER CITY, ALA. – The John A. Logan College men’s golf team was positioned in fifth place after Monday’s opening two rounds at the district tournament at Willow Point Golf Course in Alexander City, Ala.

Tuesday’s round of 18 holes marks the final day of competition with a berth at nationals on the line.

Logan’s team score through two rounds was 625 (319, 306). The Volunteers trail Eastern Florida State (592); Central Alabama (597); Faulkner State, Ala. (620); and Cape Fear, N.C. (622).  Logan leads Wallace State (626); Spartanburg Methodist, S.C. (643); and two other schools from Georgia and Connecticut.

Top individual performer for Logan was freshman Austin Grote of Hoyleton, who shot rounds of 76 and 74. That combined score of 150 ranks him fifth overall. Kody Rendleman of Murphysboro turned in scores of 79 and 77 (156). Neil Northcott finished with rounds of 82 and 77 (159). Daniel Corcho checked in at 82/81 or 163 and sophomore Christian Seaton, battling a back injury, had rounds of 90 and 77 (167).

“The course here is very difficult and we are facing some of the top teams in the country in this district,” said Vols head coach Tom Ferris.
