Carterville, IL, April 9, 2015–  John A. Logan College Vice President for Student Affairs and Community Education, Dr. Tim Daugherty will be among twenty-three college administrators presented with the 2015 Distinguished College Administrator Award, during NerdNation, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Societies’ Annual Convention in San Antonio, Texas, April 16-18.

The Distinguished College Administrator Award is given to college vice presidents, deans or leaders other than college presidents/CEOs serving in an administrative capacity who have demonstrated a strong level of support for Phi Theta Kappa during their tenure.  Nominees should have served in their position for at least five years as of December 4, 2014.

For Daugherty, who will retire at the end of the spring semester, the honor has added significance because it is from PTK.

“It is a great honor to receive the recognition of distinguished administrator from PTK, especially because the nomination came from the students of our College chapter,” he said, “Throughout my career, PTK has been one of the student organizations that I have been passionate about supporting because it represents the best of what we do at a community college.”

John A. Logan College’s Director of Student Activities and Cultural Events Adrienne Barkley Giffin, serves as the chapter’s Advisor.  According to Giffin, the honor is well deserved.

“Chapter members and officers are thrilled that Dr. Daugherty was selected for this prestigious award.  In the fall semester when they discussed the nomination, they immediately thought of him,” said Giffin. “He has provided the resources our chapter needed to become a five-star chapter, and he has also been an important part of numerous chapter events and projects.”
