CARTERVILLE – Last week’s 17th Annual Transfer Day on the John A. Logan College campus turned out to be better than anticipated.

Event organizer, Ngozi Okasili, said 24 of the 26 schools scheduled to attend made the trek to campus and interacted with students.

“The schools that were here – such as SIU, Murray State, Southeast Missouri State and Illinois – represent 47 percent of the schools to which our students transfer,” Okasili said. “Events of this type help to foster a dynamic working relationship with area colleges and universities.”

Okasili added that although Transfer Day was designed for JALC students, she was excited to see President Dr. Mike Dreith and Vice Presidents Drs. Deborah Payne and Tim Daugherty, as well as various faculty and staff, take time out of their days to greet representatives of the participating schools.

“It was also encouraging to see our deaf and hard of hearing students and international students involved in the process,” she said.
