Transfer Specialist/Advisor

Job Type: Non-Teaching Professional

Description:
  • Provide transfer assistance to Student Support Services participants
  • Collaborate with transfer advisors from other schools to develop students’ transfer plans
  • Plan an accompany TRIO SSS students on transfer trips to other colleges/universities within the region
  • Coordinate visits by other college transfer advisors to speak to SSS students here on campus
  • Provide academic advisement and mentoring services to Student Support Services participants including financial aid assistance
  • Plan and conduct educational workshops relating to transferring to a 4-year college or university for SSS program participants
  • Monitor student progress toward attaining educational goals
  • Ensure that project participants connect with and utilize supports from appropriate SSS staff and other resources
  • Maintain student records in compliance with grant requirements
  • Assist in data collection and program evaluation of TRIO SSS
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of events involving career and educational exploration
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years’ experience working with individuals in an at-risk population status

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in educational psychology, counseling, education, or related field
  • Two years of academic counseling or advising experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and the ability to respond to and identify with, personal and academic needs of low-income, first-generation, and disabled students
  • Ability to network with other colleges

Hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) 

Salary range starts at: $40,000
