Description:
Technology Support Technicians perform analytical, technical, and administrative work in the planning, installation and maintenance of new and existing devices and workstations; prepare progress reports for all work performed; and recommend to management the support or nonsupport of evaluated products.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Serve as point of contact for campus users seeking technical assistance over the phone, walk-in, or email
- Distribute, install, setup, troubleshoot, and inventory computer systems, telecom equipment, network equipment and audio/visual equipment in accordance with standard procedures
- Create and support various issues relating to user accounts on campus approved systems
- Support and train users in the use of technology, including developing training materials
- Submit and manage IT work order requests
- Utilize and maintain knowledge bases, FAQs, and vendor documentation
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and patience to handle a variety of situations of personalities
- Provide effective resolutions to user issues, while maintaining communications and monitoring incidents through resolution
- Manage and coordinate IT student work staff in handling user support activities
- Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy equipment such as projectors, computers, and printers
- Provide guidance and explain policies and procedures to end-users
- Position requires availability to work evenings or weekend for events, special projects, or emergencies
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree
- One year of work experience with audio/visual equipment and computer setup, operation, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of computer network infrastructure/architecture
- Ability to follow directions and complete assignments independently
- Ability and willingness to learn new technologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in computer-related fields
- Two or more years of work experience with audio/visual equipment and computer setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Computer system-related certifications
