Specialist 1 (Office of Information Technology)

Job Type: Operational Staff


This position is tasked with the Information Technology office’s day-to-day operations and administrative duties. The position requires high professionalism and confidentiality and the ability to assist in working with budgets. The Office of Information Technology Specialist works with the business and purchasing offices, gathering contracts and orders and quoting information from vendors. In addition, this position will work with Intranet content for offices and the IT ticketing system.

Note: This is a union position.

Position Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in a business-related field, plus four years office work experience or five years of office management experience. Assessments or acceptable certification for the appropriate level of Microsoft Office skills will be required. 

Essential Functions & Position Duties

  • Performs primary receptionist duties (answering phones, greeting visitors, directing calls, etc.)
  • Maintains files (both electronic and hard copy)
  • Data entry
  • Maintains confidential and sensitive information
  • Processes requisitions
  • Works with budgets
  • Coordinates and attends meetings as appropriate; prepares and distributes minutes
  • Interface with college-restricted software systems
  • Supervisory duties (Student Workers)
  • Manipulates data in college-restricted software systems 

Non-essential functions of the position

  • Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.

Hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday 

Salary: $18.00 – $19.44 per hour
