Scholarship Coordinator – INTERNAL ONLY

Description:

The Scholarship Coordinator connects students with financial opportunities, ensuring scholarships are awarded efficiently and equitably. More than managing funds, this role builds relationships, streamlines processes, and fosters lasting partnerships. Serving as the bridge between students, donors, you’ll guide applicants, maintain databases, and coordinate selections. You’ll also support fundraising efforts, helping establish new scholarships and strengthening donor engagement.

Education & Experience Requirements
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations, communications, or related field.

Experience:

  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience managing electronic recordkeeping in programs such as Award Spring, Raisers Edge, Academic Works, etc.
  • Working knowledge of posting awards and releasing funds from grants, scholarships, and endowments in an education or non-profit environment
  • Ability to create accurate reports for distribution to boards and oversight committees
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Experience with fundraising

Essential Functions & Position Duties

  • Responsible for ongoing management of the scholarship system that supports the enrollment objectives of the College
  • Oversee and maintain online scholarship applications
  • Process awards within the scholarship management system, updating the system with new awards and extracting data for reporting purposes
  • Set deadlines, establish event objectives, and address any challenges that arise
  • Collaborate with deans, department chairs, various administrative departments, and committees to ensure effective awarding of scholarships to prospective and current students
  • Responsible for the development of annual scholarship budget projections
  • Responsible for the overall management, tracking, and disbursement of funds from several varied accounts
  • Prepare all communication regarding scholarships between the Foundation, scholarship recipients, and donors
  • Communicate with prospective and current students and families regarding scholarship opportunities
  • Maintain database of Promise Scholars, manage all promise scholarship releases
  • Attend Foundation quarterly board meetings and provide scholarship reports
  • Attend Foundation committee meetings as needed
  • Manage relationships with existing donors and assist the Assistant Vice President of Advancement & Executive Director of the JALC Foundation with stewardship of future donors
  • Assist the AVP of Advancement & Executive Director of the JALC Foundation with fundraising events
  • Communicate and collaborate with the JALC faculty and staff to ensure existing processes are transparent and efficient
  • Ensure the smooth running of the office and help to improve day-to-day operations
  • Present to groups at area high schools or at College events as needed

Non-essential functions of the position
Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.

Hours: 8:00 – 4:30, Monday-Friday; occasional evenings and weekends

Salary: $40,000 – $50,000
