Database Programmer

Job Type: Professional

Description:

The Database Programmer is responsible for creating and maintaining data related software and scripts used in our administrative and student information systems. This includes creating and maintaining reports, entry forms, and third-party integrations, as well as working directly with vendors on support tickets and maintenance contracts. The person in this position must be able to work in various operating and database management systems. This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Systems and supervises a technology support technician.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Identify data issues and support end users to ensure data integrity.
  • Design and implement data access permissions for end users.
  • Maintain security privileges for new and existing users.
  • Perform, maintain, and test backup procedures for various database management systems.
  • Develop and maintain integrations with other systems.
  • Build and maintain reports using SQL and various report writing tools.
  • Create stored procedures and views.
  • Create and maintain data entry forms.
  • Document changes to database systems and integrations.
  • Supervise a technology support technician, including writing evaluations, mentoring, and training.
  • Serve on committees related to data governance.
  • Serve on other committees and task forces as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with one or more years’ experience; or Associate’s degree in computer science or related field with two or more years’ experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science
  • Certifications in database administration
  • Five or more years of experience in the above listed areas
  • One or more years of experience with programming languages

Hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday 

Salary range starts at: $65,000
