Description:
The Database Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining the databases used in our administrative and student information systems. This includes performing upgrades, monitoring performance, creating reports and entry forms, as well as working directly with vendors on support tickets and maintenance contracts. The person in this position must be able to work in various operating and database management systems. This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Systems.
Full-Time; Non-Teaching Professional; Grade 2
Hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain relational databases
- Identify data issues and work with end users to ensure data integrity
- Monitor database performance and make improvements accordingly
- Design and implement data access permissions for end users
- Maintain security privileges for new and existing users
- Perform, maintain, and test backup procedures for various database management systems
- Develop and maintain integrations with other systems
- Build and maintain reports using SQL and various report writing tools
- Create stored procedures and views
- Document changes to database systems and integrations
- Serve on committees related to data governance
- Other duties as assigned
- Duties must be performed on John A. Logan campus or designated locations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- Three or more years of enterprise relational database administration and development on Windows Servers
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science
- Certifications in database administration
- Five or more years of experience in the above listed areas
- One or more years of experience with programming languages
