Description:
The College Readiness Navigator will work collaboratively with the College Readiness Coordinator and JALC Ambassador to create activities to expose students to college life and college culture; assist with cohort recruitment, retention, programming, and data collection; work with students’ families to address issues or concerns and to answer questions regarding the college onboarding process; and be a regular presence in JALC district high schools and mentor students in the cohort.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Assist cohort students in registering for JALC events, including, but not limited to: Applied Technology Day, STEM Day, Technology Day, the Healthcare and Public Service Showcase, and New Student Orientation Days.
- Develop and organize relevant data on the college bridge cohort to track student success and identify patterns among the obstacles impacting students’ enrollment and transition to JALC.
- Assist cohort students in completing college-related tasks, including, but not limited to: admissions applications, placement test scheduling, financial aid and scholarship applications, and program applications.
- Work with district high schools and school counselors to identify students for the cohort.
- Build prospective student perception of JALC as a top choice in higher education by linking student’s interest, career, and educational goals to academic programs at the college.
- Attend various community events to promote the College and recruit students.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Duties must be performed on John A. Logan College campus or designated locations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Familiarity with the Illinois community college system and John A. Logan College district
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from John A. Logan College or other Illinois community college
- Demonstrated communication, collaboration, and leadership skills that can be used to work with multiple team members to accomplish goals in a fast-paced environment

Hours: 15-29 hours per week (variable hours)
Salary: $15.00 per hour
