Associate Controller

Full-time; Non-Teaching Professional; Level 3
Hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday (occasional evenings and weekends)
Salary range starts at: $75,000
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Maintain budgeting software
- Facilitate College budget development process
- Train and assist departmental budget managers
- Preparation of legal budget for Board approval
- Perform budget maintenance throughout fiscal year
- Fixed asset management and depreciation
- Review grant budgets and expenditure reporting
- Perform State, Federal, and Agency reporting
- Capital Project expenditure analysis
- Review expenditures against budgeted amounts
- Year-end expense, revenue, and fund balance projections
- Tax levy preparation and levy receivable review
- Tracking of State payments
- Participate in strategic planning and accreditation processes
- Prepare interfund transfers
- Account reconciliations and prepare journal entries as needed
- Assist with month-end and year-end closeout; audit preparation
- Bank reconciliations
- Serve in a backup capacity in Controller’s absence
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the Staff Accountant position
- Serve on College committees as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
- Duties must be performed on John A. Logan campus or designated locations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Two or three years of acceptable accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Governmental fund accounting experience
- Supervisory experience
