Associate Controller

Job Type: Non-Teaching Professional

Full-time; Non-Teaching Professional; Level 3

Hours:  8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday (occasional evenings and weekends)

Salary range starts at:  $75,000

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Maintain budgeting software
  • Facilitate College budget development process
  • Train and assist departmental budget managers
  • Preparation of legal budget for Board approval
  • Perform budget maintenance throughout fiscal year
  • Fixed asset management and depreciation
  • Review grant budgets and expenditure reporting
  • Perform State, Federal, and Agency reporting
  • Capital Project expenditure analysis
  • Review expenditures against budgeted amounts
  • Year-end expense, revenue, and fund balance projections
  • Tax levy preparation and levy receivable review
  • Tracking of State payments
  • Participate in strategic planning and accreditation processes
  • Prepare interfund transfers
  • Account reconciliations and prepare journal entries as needed
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closeout; audit preparation
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Serve in a backup capacity in Controller’s absence
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the Staff Accountant position
  • Serve on College committees as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Duties must be performed on John A. Logan campus or designated locations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Two or three years of acceptable accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Governmental fund accounting experience
  • Supervisory experience
