Description:
- Provide academic advisement services to students, including but not limited to: advising, registering, maintaining curriculum guides/advising worksheets, evaluating and understanding high school and college transcripts, understanding and discussing the various academic majors available at JALC, providing students with information regarding transfer to other institutions, and completing tentative graduation evaluations prior to students applying for graduation
- Assist the Director of College Readiness with the training and supervision of all advisors and monitoring and updating of advisor caseloads
- Oversee the advisor change process
- Set up walk-in advisement schedule and make arrangements for students when advisors are absent
- Serve as a resource for advisors on course transferability and equivalency policies and procedures
- Coordinate the performance evaluations of academic advisors
- Maintain the advisement social media presence and website
- Assist with the ORI 100: College 101 course
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
- Work experience in Academic Advisement
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in education or a related field
- Supervisory Experience
- Experience with the community college environment
