“To Education We Must Look” -General John A. Logan

Diversity drives innovation – when we limit who can contribute, we in turn limit what problems we can solve.” – Telle Whitney

Empower yourselves with a good education, then get out there and use that education to build a country worthy of your boundless promise” – Michelle Obama

Welcome- and thank you for visiting!

John A Logan College (JALC) recognizes that an ethnically, racially and culturally diverse
student and faculty community enhances the educational experience of all students. As
educators, we acknowledge our responsibility to provide dynamic learning opportunities
that will prepare our students for success in an ever-changing global environment.

Our campus-wide 21-Day Diversity Challenge is an initiative designed to engage our
students, faculty, staff and local community in culturally enriching activities that promote
learning, reflection and celebration around equity and inclusion. We have prepared a
repository of resources for the purpose of expanding our appreciation of our local cultures.
We challenge you to embrace this initiative by participating in this 3-week event. We hope
the resources we provide educate, inspire and deepen your knowledge and understanding
of the complexity of our society and the importance of ongoing DEI conversations and
programming in promoting a sense of belonging, unity and justice.

Please note that participation in this event is voluntary. It is a great opportunity to
continue to have constructive conversations around issues that are critical to our common
good.

Thank you!
