Telecourses are a combination of videotaped lessons, reading assignments, regular contact with an on-campus instructor, and examinations. The telecourses are provided especially for students who, because of family commitments, job responsibilities, physical disabilities, or lack of transportation, cannot attend regular College classes. The telecourse instructor has regular on-campus office hours and may be visited in person or contacted by telephone or letter. These courses require self-discipline and require a considerable amount of study time to complete. Students should weigh personal obligations carefully before enrolling.
Students will be notified by mail when to come to campus to pick up the telecourse packet. The packet will explain the course requirements and will include a complete schedule of assignments and examinations and (for most courses) a complete set of videotaped lessons, available on a loan basis. Other telecourses are available for viewing at the John A. Logan College Learning Lab and at the public libraries in Carbondale, Du Quoin, Marion, Murphysboro, and West Frankfort.
A fee of $25 is charged for each telecourse to cover duplication and other costs.
