• Served 1 year of federal active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States which includes Illinois National Guard and Reserve components.
  • Regardless of length service, have served in a foreign country in a time of hostilities in that country; medically discharged for service related reasons; or was discharged prior to August 11, 1967.
  • Have an honorable discharge
  • Not be a member of ROTC
  • Not be in default of any student loan, nor owe a refund on any state or federal grant
  • Be enrolled in an Illinois public 2 or 4 year college
  • Meet one of two criteria:
    1. Have been a resident of Illinois at the time of entering federal active duty or within six months prior to entering the service (Illinois listed as home of record at time of entry)
      or
      Have been a student at an Illinois public 2 or 4 year college at the time of entering federal active duty
    2. If your DD214 does not list Illinois has your home record when you enter into service and at time of separation, you must return to Illinois and establish residency within 6 months of leaving service.

I.V.G. will not pay the following:

  1. Book rental fees.
  2. Laboratory and supply fees.
  3. Student union fees.
  4. Fees for the operation, maintenance or rental of any building, facility or equipment.
