TLC Training Session Descriptions

BLACKBOARD:

  • BB 101: Blackboard Basics: Participants will learn basic features of the Blackboard system, the learning Management System, for all online and supplemental courses.
  • BB 102: Blackboard Content Areas: Participants will learn how to upload a syllabus, course schedule, and assignments.
  • BB 103: Blackboard Course Options:
  • BB 104: Blackboard Course Tools: Participants will learn how to add announcements, create discussion boards, and utilize other areas of the Course Tools section of Blackboard.
  • BB 201: Blackboard Gradebook: Participants will learn how to manage, import, and export grades using the Gradebook feature of Blackboard.
  • BB 202: Blackboard Course Assessments: Participants will learn to create an exam or quiz and post it in Blackboard.
  • BB 203: Blackboard Course Surveys: Participants will learn to create a survey and post it in Blackboard.
  • BB 204: Tracking Student Attendance in Blackboard: Participants will learn strategies for keeping attendance in online courses.
  • BB 301: Adding Video to Online Classes: Participants will learn how to use4 video in online classes using Windows Media/Movie maker and video editing software. Participants will also learn how to import movies into Blackboard.
  • BB 302: Respondus: Participants will learn how to import tests and quizzes from Microsoft Word into Blackboard.

COMPUTER PERIPHERALS:

  • CP 101: QuickCam Basics: Participants will learn how to use a QucikCam to communicate with others via the Internet, create pictures, and create short videos.
  • CP 102: Scanner Usage: Participants will learn how to scan pictures, graphics, and other documents.
  • CP 103: Wacom Tablet: Participants will learn how to use several features of the Wacom Tablet, including the mouse and the drawing tools. Participants will also learn how to create signature files and use them with other programs to provide the effect of writing on the chalkboard.
  • CP 104: Create a Digital Signature: Participants will learn how to create signature fields, using the Wacom Tablet, and use them with programs to provide the effect of writing on the chalkboard.

MULTI-MEDIA:

  • MM 101: Irfanview Basics: Participants will learn how to make screen captures, scan images, edit the images to some extent, and make slideshows.
  • MM 102: Audacity Basics: Participants will learn how to perform basic audio recording. Participants will also learn how to record and post audio files to Blackboard and to CDs.
  • MM 103: Fun with Photos: Participants will learn how to easily edit and enhance their photos.
  • MM 104: SnagIt: Participants will learn how to select and capture anything on their screen and share it with others. Participants will also learn how to edit call-out-boxes, type on images, and perform other functions using Snag-It.
  • MM 205: Photoshop Elements 4.0 Basics: Participants will learn how to develop slide shows, cards, calendars, photo mail, and web galleries.
  • MM 206: Camtasia Basics: Participants will learn how to record their screen, PowerPoint presentations, and voice to create video tutorials, training presentations, and teaching demonstrations.
  • MM 305: Photoshop Elements 4.0 Advanced: Participants will learn how to easily edit and enhance their photos.
  • MM 306: Premier Elements 2.0: Participants will learn how to create videos to enhance the classroom experience or record to CD or DVD.
  • MM 307: Lectora Basics: Participants will learn how to create e-learning content easier, faster, and more efficiently. This software is used to create interactive multimedia to better engage students.

PEDAGOGY:

  • PED 101: Syllabus Development: Participants will learn to develop a syllabus according to the college-wide format.
  • PED 102: Course Schedule Development: Participants will learn how to develop a course schedule, to help both the students and the instructor.
  • PED 103: In-Class Surveys - Open Communication: Participants will learn how to use in-class surveys to generate open communication with students.
  • PED 104: Developing Online Course Content: Participants will discuss strategies for developing online course content.
  • PED 201: Developing Measureable Objectives: Participants will discuss strategies for developing measurable course objectives.
  • PED 202: Instructional Design Ideas: Participants will discuss strategies for designing lessons that take into consideration the learner, activities, and assessment required to accurately measure and document student achievement.

LIBRARY:

  • LIB 101: Library @ Your Desktop: Participants will learn how to access all the available Library resources at their office or home computer.
  • LIB 102: Online Government Info: Participants will find out about all the interesting and valuable government resources that are just a click away.
  • LIB 103: Evaluating Internet Resources: Participants will discover how to determine whether an Internet resource is the right one for their information need.

WEB:

  • www 101: Creating Webpages: Participants will learn how to create basic web pages.
  • www 102: Web Accessibility Training: Participants will learn how to make their websites accessible to those with disabilities according to Section 508 web accessibility standards.
  • www 103: Podcasting: Participants will learn what a podcast is, how to create an audio podcast, and how to make a video podcast.
