Jane Minton's Biography

Jane Minton

Since 1996 Jane Minton has been a counselor and academic advisor for the Student Success Center. She is the main recruiter and mentor for students in the TRiO Program. She holds workshops each semester designed to help students with specific problems and organizes cultural activities to enhance their college experience. She is also a part-time instructor at the College, teaching death and dying and psychology.

Jane was born and raised in Pinckneyville and graduated from Pinckneyville High School. She took classes at Lindenwood University and McKendree College before moving to Japan with her now-former husband where she completed her bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Maryland's Far East campus. After she returned to the U.S., she earned a master's degree in gerontology from the University of South Florida and later got a second bachelor's degree in psychology from McKendree College.

Jane first became affiliated with Logan in 1978 when she began teaching continuing education classes. She soon also became a part-time instructor for the adult education program. In 1987, she took on the role of I&R (information and referral) counselor at Logan and held that position until she joined the SSC.

Jane lives in Du Quoin and has one son, Ike, and two cats, Barbara and Luce. A creative, free-spirit, she practices yoga and enjoys teaching, gardening, photography, traveling, and cooking.
