Christy McBride’s Biography
Christy McBride is the director of the Student Success Center, a position she assumed in August 2006. Before becoming the director, she worked for the SSC as the coordinator of disability support services since 1998. She has been employed at JALC since 1996 and has worked as a retention counselor, academic advisor, and part-time psychology instructor.
After graduating as salutatorian of her high school class in Sesser, Christy attended Rend Lake College on an academic scholarship and earned an associate in science degree. She transferred to Murray State University for one year and then to Southern Illinois University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1992. While working as a social worker, she continued her education at SIU and completed her master’s degree in educational psychology in the summer of 1996. She is a National Certified Counselor.
Christy and her husband, Blaine, reside in rural Murphysboro with their twins, Qwentin and Ariana. She is an avid gardener and enjoys walking and hiking.
