When College officials planned a series of sign-up events for the college's free text message notification service weeks ago, they had no idea that two weather cancellations and a tragedy at Northern Illinois University would remind them of the importance of such a service. John A. Logan College offers the e2 campus alert system that provides students with campus info and emergency notifications that are sent to their cell phones and/or email.
Students who have not already signed up for the service will have an opportunity Wednesday, February 20 and Thursday, February 21 outside the College bookstore located in the upstairs portion of E Wing. It's a free service that the college offers to faculty, staff, students, and the general public. Anyone interested in signing up can do so free of charge, except for individual carrier text message charges if applicable can go to http://www.e2campus.com/my/jalc/ and sign in to create an account. Then choose to receive text messages and email messages, text only, or email only. If you sign up for text messages you need to have your cell phone with you because of a confirmation procedure. Once you create your account you can join "groups" for other messages from the college and you can always log back into your account and change your information and group subscriptions.
