John A. Logan College sophomore D.J. Posley of Hazel Crest, Illinois, has signed a scholarship to play basketball next year at the University of California, Santa Barbara. A 6-foot-3 combo guard, Posley led the Volunteers in scoring, assists, and steals this season, averaging 16 points, 4.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per contest. He also averaged 4.1 rebounds per game and was named an honorable mention NJCAA All-American while also earning all-conference and All-Region 24 honors. Logan went 27-5, earning the Great Rivers Athletic Conference title and finishing the year ranked sixth nationally.
"D.J. is a great fit for our program, as a player and as a person," said Bob Williams, head men's basketball coach at UC Santa Barbara. "We are excited to get him. He fits right in as the fourth guard we were looking for. He shoots the ball well, passes it, plays good defense, and has good hands. He fills a real void we've had."
Posley was heavily recruited by several Division I universities but felt UC Santa Barbara was the right fit for him.
"I really enjoyed my visit there," he said. "It is a strong school academically, which is important to me, and it has one of the most beautiful campuses I've seen. It also has a good basketball team. This year it took second in the conference. Next season I hope to help it finish first."
