John A. Logan College's Steve O'Keefe, left, director of community relations and marketing, and Head Baseball Coach Jerry Halstead talk to Eric Haag

John A. Logan College's Steve O'Keefe, left, director of community relations and marketing, and Head Baseball Coach Jerry Halstead took Eric Haag, center, vice-president for the Southern Illinois Miners, on a tour of the College campus recently. The Miners will be using the College's baseball facilities while the team's stadium, currently under construction in Marion, is being completed.

Haag said he was impressed with the College's facilities and appreciated the College's willingness to assist the team's efforts.

Sean Patrick, an account executive for the Miners and former JALC assistant baseball coach, also announced that Logan families could also help the team by becoming a host family for players. Host families get a number of perks including game tickets and parking passes throughout the season. Anyone interested in opening his or her home to a player may contact Patrick at 618-969-8507.

The Miners are also holding a job fair April 14 at the Illinois Centre Mall. The Miners are currently looking to fill a number of positions at the stadium. Recently, at the College's job fair, two Logan students found employment with the team.
