Vice-President Brad McCormick to Speak at Student Leadership Program

The John A. Logan College Student Senate is sponsoring a program called Overcoming Fear in Leadership on Tuesday, March 18, at 11 a.m. in the Dining Room Annex. Brad McCormick, vice-president for business services and college facilities at Logan, will be the keynote speaker. The event is free and open to all Logan students.

Adrienne Barkley Giffin, co-advisor of the Student Senate and director of student activities, helped organize the forum and invited McCormick to speak.

"Brad was one of the panelists last fall at a program called Meet Your College Leaders," she said. "One of the issues he discussed was about facing fear and overcoming it in order to move forward. I thought it was a really interesting topic that everyone could relate to, especially students, and I encourage them to attend."

"I'm glad to be addressing the students on this important subject," McCormick said. "Leadership often requires decision making when you do not have all of the facts and sometimes when the results of your actions are uncertain. If you have placed too much of your personal worth in your level of performance or in your success in whatever role you are in, fear of failure can be paralyzing. I'm going to describe for the students some of my personal experiences on this issue and share what I've learned from them."
