John A. Logan College will present A Dickens Dinner, a dinner-theater production inspired by the works of Charles Dickens and conceived by Dr. Bradley Almquist. The audience will dine on roast turkey, sweet cornbread stuffing, and flaming figgie pudding while Logan's choral and chamber ensembles perform the sounds of the season. The event will also feature entertaining games and a visit from Father Christmas.
"The setting for this production is the late-Victorian period in England," said Nathan Arnett, a music instructor at Logan who is directing the show. "The audience members will be guests at a Victorian-style Christmas party hosted by the Cratchit family, the characters from the Dickens' classic, A Christmas Carol. There will be lots of caroling, delicious food and beverages, and a brass quartet will perform. It will be a fun and entertaining night for both adults and children."
Performances will be held on Friday, December 7, and Saturday, December 8. Both will begin at 6 p.m. and will take place in the College's conference center. Tickets are $25 and can be obtained by contacting the Office of Student Activities and Cultural Events at Logan at 618-985-2828 or 618-457-7676, Ext. 8287.
"This is a very popular show, and tickets are going quickly," said Adrienne Barkley Giffin, director of student activities and cultural events. "Anyone interested in attending should call my office as soon as possible."
