Dr. Robert Mees, president of John A. Logan College, and Jacob "Jake" Rendleman, a member of the JALC Board of Trustees, were on hand Tuesday, Feb. 19, when Congressman Jerry Costello presented Carterville Fire Chief Bruce Talley with a check for $250,800 for the purchase of a new emergency response vehicle for the Carterville Fire Department. Mees and Rendleman said the federal grant to the local fire department is significant to the College because the fire department is responsible for protecting the College campus. "Under the leadership of Chief Talley, the Carterville Fire Department does an excellent job," Rendleman said. "The ability to purchase a new emergency response vehicle will only make this department better."
