John A. Logan College will conduct its thirty-ninth commencement on Friday, May 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the Donald L. Brewer Gymnasium and Convocation Center.
Six hundred and fifty have applied for graduation. The diplomas and certificates will be presented by Board of Trustees Chair William Kilquist and Dr. Robert Mees, president of the College. Dr. Julia Schroeder, vice-president for instructional services, will certify the graduates.
Student speakers are Jennifer Troue, Percy; and Payton Lindsay, Creal Springs. Dr. Douglas C. Brown, Marion, will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Michael B. Goss, Murphysboro, will receive the Pacesetter Award Associate Professor of English Stan Hale will be recognized posthumously with the Distinguished Faculty Award. His wife, Becky Hale, will receive the award.
