The John A. Logan College Community Band and Orchestra will perform a spring concert on Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m. in the College s Conference Center. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
Long-time conductor Tony Prochaska says the band and orchestra are made up of a diverse group of musicians and play a wide variety of music.
"We have about 60 people combined in the band and orchestra," he said. "They come from communities throughout southern Illinois and range in age from 12 to 90. The music we play ranges from big band numbers to symphonies to folk music. I think there will be something to satisfy many musical tastes."
Prochaska says Logan has been very supportive of the band and orchestra.
"We really appreciate the support we get from the College," he said. "It makes it possible for us to put on this concert for free so everyone can afford to come and enjoy it."
